KTOA Hosts Global Telecom Value-Up Forum and Issues Joint Statement with GSMA and Connect Europe

The Korea Telecommunications Operators Association (KTOA) hosted Connect Europe at the “Global Telecom Value-Up Forum” and the two associations signed a joint statement, including the GSMA.

In the joint statement, GSMA, Connect Europe, and KTOA outlined their shared goals and principles for the sustainable development of the telecom industry and signed the joint statement.

The statement includes the following principles for industry advancement:

  • Enhancing competitiveness for sustainable growth. 
  • Establishing a virtuous cycle of infrastructure investment
  • Promoting innovation and technological advancement
  • Building safe and reliable networks
  • Collaborating on AI-driven business models
  • Strengthening cooperation between satellite technology and mobile communications
  • Enhancing user benefits through digital innovation
  • Expanding joint research and alliances

Following the joint statement, the “Global Telecom Value-Up Forum” featured GSMA, Connect Europe, and major industry representatives including Deutsche Telekom from Germany, Telefonica from Spain, and key Korean telecom companies such as SK Telecom, KT, LG Uplus, and SK Broadband. Civic groups, including the Citizens’ Coalition for Economic Justice, also participated in panel discussions under the theme “The Value and Challenges of the Telecom Industry in the Era of Digital Innovation.”

During the forum, KTOA commemorated the 40th anniversary of mobile telecommunications in Korea with a presentation on the industry’s development and future milestones.
