EC proposal for a Directive on Network and Information Security: An important step towards a truly level playing field between all players

Türk Telekom grew by 6.4 % in 2012 with a revenue of TL 12.7 billion

Turkey’s leading communication and convergence technology group Türk Telekom announced 2012 year end results. According to 2012 year end financial results, the Group’s revenues increased by 6.4 % and reached TL 12.7 billion. Türk Telekom Group made a consolidated investment of TL 2.4 billion and expanded its fiber coverage by reaching over 1.9 million FTTH/B home passes in addition to 4 million FTTC passes with more momentum on investments.Turk Telekom Group CEO Hakam Kanafani’s comments on 2012 year end results:

Sustained customer growth - higher capital expenditure - Fastweb on track - stable dividends

Swisscom posted a fall in net revenue in 2012 of CHF 83 million or 0.7% to CHF 11,384 million and a drop in operating income before depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of CHF 203 million or 4.4% to CHF 4,381 million. On a like-for-like basis and at constant exchange rates, revenue was up by 0.3% and EBITDA fell by 0.6%. The CHF 1,068 million or 153.9% increase in net income is primarily attributable to last year's impairment charge at Fastweb.

ETNO calls on EU Council for support to Connecting Europe Facility

In a letter to the Irish Prime Minister Mr. Enda Kenny, the President of the European Council, Mr. Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Commission, Mr. José Manuel Barroso, and the President of the European Parliament Mr. Martin Schulz, ETNO, reiterated its support to the for the European Commission’s proposal for a “Connecting Europe Facility” (CEF), in view of the European Council on 7-8 February, which will discuss and possibly seal an agreement on the EU budget package.

Telekom today announced it is now offering fourth generation iPad Wi-Fi + 3G/LTE, iPad mini Wi-Fi + 3G/LTE and iPad 2. Telekom is offering these new iPads with a range of attractive fixed and mobile data plans. The latter allow customers to connect to its fast HSPA+ network at speeds of up to 42 Mbps and after the software update to its superfast LTE network at speeds of up to 60 Mbps.
